The PSUTXT system is an emergency notification system which sends text messages to your cell phone.
The system will only be used to deliver emergency notices about Penn State Behrend, such as college closures, class delays, and other crisis situations.
PSUTXT service subscriptions are free, but individuals' phone plans may charge for receipt of text messages. Penn State does not send out ads via this service.
Registration is via the Web. To sign up, visit http://newswires.psu.edu/ and follow the instructions at the bottom of the page under the PSUTXT Text Massaging Alerts heading.
To receive only emergency messages about Penn State Behrend, select "Erie alerts" and unselect "University Park alerts."
As part of the registration process, you will receive a text message at the cell phone number you entered as a way to validate that you are only entering your phone. You will need to enter this code into a box on the registration Web site to activate the service.
Along with the new text messaging ability, the college’s emergency communication channels include www.behrend.psu.edu, telephone, e-mail, and automated emergency messages at the college’s main phone number, 814-898-6000.
