SAM AND IRENE BLACK SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Career Paths in International Business

“Employers asked for specific skill sets, and we answered with this degree,” notes Diane Parente, professor of management and Program Chair for the IBE degree. “IBE graduates will provide immediate value as employees, because they'll have the ability to apply the multidisciplinary principles they learn to operate within a technical organization.”

The objective of the proposed program is to educate business students who meet these needs. Graduates of the proposed program will have a science and mathematics background, an understanding of engineering fundamentals, a background in economics, accounting, finance; demonstrated competence in organizational and operations management, an understanding of marketing principles, and an understanding of project management principles with the ability to apply these principles to the development of projects.

It is expected that IBE graduates will be recruited to positions as project control specialist, procurement manager, information systems analyst, financial analyst, product and logistics manager, customer service analyst, technical sales and marketing, and business consultant. A review of state and national employment trends for these positions from 2004 to 2014 indicates and average growth of 11% for the state and 17% nationally during the period.
