Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering - Double (Concurrent) Majors

Students wishing to complete a double major (formally called a concurrent major) must first be admitted into a “primary major”.  After completing the entrance to major process for their primary major a student must complete an Application for Approval of Concurrent Majors form, available on the registrar’s web page, have it signed and approved by the appropriate personnel.  Once students are admitted into a concurrent major they will have two degree audits, one for each major, to select from when using eLion.

The student will then need to complete all the courses required for the primary major, plus additional courses (listed below) for the secondary major.  All the majors offered in Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering require that a student take 3 technical elective courses.  However, a student working towards a double major will complete these technical electives by virtue of the requirements necessary to complete the secondary major.  As a consequence the technical elective requirement for a student pursuing a double major is different, they need only complete one technical elective course – a course that is not required for either the primary or secondary major.  This technical elective must have a 300 or 400 level E E, CMPEN, or SWENG designation.
