Dr. Amir Khalilollahi is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. He received the B. S. in General Engineering in 1976 from the Abadan Institute of Technology and both the M. S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1978 and 1983 respectively. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi (National Honor Society) from 1981-1983. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the ASME Board of Governors in 1990 and was received the Outstanding Member Award from the Erie Engineering Society Council (ESCC) in 1990. He was awarded the ASME Region V Adviser of the Year award for the mechanical engineering section in 1998, and received the Special Recognition Award presented by PENNTAP in May of 1999. In May 2006, he earned the Best of Session Technical Paper Award along with Russell Warley and Oladipo Onipede for the paper “Parametric modal study of multilayer composite electronic boards,” at the 2006 International ANSYS Conference, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Khalilollahi was first employed at the Abadan Refinery, National Iranian Oil Company in 1973. He then came to the United States to continue his education at the Pennsylvania State University, where he later did graduate research and teaching through 1983. He has been at Penn State Behrend ever since.
Dr. Khalilollahi is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1986. He is a member of the Western PA ANSYS Users Group, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).
