SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
Matt Palamara
My name is Matt Palamara. I graduated from Knoch High School in Saxonburg, PA in 1998 and received m y B.S. in 2002 from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Behrend. I currently work for ANSYS, Inc. where I am a software test engineer. I test and debug ANSYS Finite Element Analysis Software. While the focus of my position is on Solver Technology and Distributed Computing, I also am involved with mechanics and dynamics.
The MET program first introduced me to the concept of computer-aided engineering and finite element analysis (FEA). The classes provided a great deal of 'on-computer' time, resulting in a solid foundation of experience that I would eventually rely on to obtain several internships and, ultimately, my full-time job. The quality of the engineering technology faculty and their abundance of knowledge and experience in their respective fields is what impressed me most about the METBD program. I also was impressed with the comfortable learning environment. From Penn State Behrend, I went on to the University of Pittsburgh where I spent two years working toward a master's degree. In 2004, I graduated with a master of science in mechanical engineering (MSME).
I would recommend that student live on campus, at least for the first couple of years, and establish a good base of college friends.
