SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
Greg Zimmerman
My name is Greg Zimmerman and I'm originally from Brookville, PA. I graduated from high school in 1 998 and from the Penn State Behrend MET program in 2002. I am currently employed by SKF as an Application/Project Engineer where I utilize SKF developed simulation tools and support bearing sales, optimize application performance, and provide solutions to complex engineering problems.
The Behrend MET program incorporated a wide range of resources with an excellent group of professors. The curriculum gave me the skills I needed to obtain a job even in a tough market (immediately following 9/11). The curriculum differentiated me from many of the ME's (FEA, Pro/E, Labs, etc..), but also incorporated the engineering knowledge to work at the same level in my everyday job. Each professor took the time to get to know their students with small class size allowing a more personal relationship to develop. In the four years I was part of the program, I never once saw any professor not willing to take extra time to help a student in or outside of class.
I recommend living on campus as the experience allows you to build a network of friends outside of your everyday classmates.
