Reading Popular Texts (English 130)

Students analyze the meaning and significance of a variety of popular texts, including music videos, television sitcoms, and toys.
 

Shakespeare (English 448)

"O me, you Juggler, you Canker-Blossom,

You Thief of Love. What, have you
come by Night

And stol'n my Love's Heart from him?"

Students participate in an advanced comparative study of the writings of William Shakespeare, with an emphasis on his recurring forms, themes, structure, and imagery.

Globality and Literature (English 301)

Students examine relationships between literature and culture through the study of major texts in English by writers of various cultures. Areas covered may include India, Nigeria, Ghana, and the Philippines. Here, students prepare a report on Pakistan for a discussion of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children.
