POLITICAL SCIENCE TRIP TO WASHINGTON DC
SPRING BREAK MARCH 2009
PENN STATE ERIE, THE BEHREND COLLEGE

IIn March 2009, 12 Penn State Behrend students spent their Spring Break in Washington DC as part of the course, "Politics and Government in Washington DC."  This is the eighth year in which Penn State Behrend students have taken such a Spring Break trip. The students were accompanied by Robert Speel, Associate Professor of Political Science at Behrend, who is the instructor for the associated course, and Christopher Cook, Assistant Professor of Political Science.

The trip is part of a course, PL SC 177, in which students meet with their members of Congress, international organization and embassy officials, federal agency officials, interest group leaders and political consultants in Washington. The students also tour federal government offices and buildings, and visit Washington's most famous monuments and memorials. We stayed at the Virginian Suites Hotel in Arlington, Virginia, across the Potomac River from Washington. The hotel is located right next to the site of the Iwo Jima Marine Corps War Memorial.
