Mathematics Curriculum

A minimum of 120 credits is needed to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics regardless of option. You must earn a grade of C or better in all 300- and 400-level courses in the major field.

Students work closely with faculty, and students participate in a variety of undergraduate research opportunities.

Coursework will vary by option. A typical first-year schedule for a Math major includes Calculus with Analytic Geometry I and II; Introduction to Programming Techniques; Intermediate Programming; Composition and Rhetoric; a 1-credit First Year Seminar; two science electives; a science, humanities or arts course that helps you fulfill your General Education requirements; an exercise science course; and possibly one or more courses in your Math option.

Your upper-level courses may include Introduction to Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Fourier Series and Partial Differential Equations, Introduction to Numerical Analysis, Basic Abstract Algebra, Introduction to Topology, Matrix Algebra, Mathematical Methods of Operational Research, Mathematical Modeling, Number Theory, and Ordinary Differential Equations.
