Enrollment Type: Provisional
Provisional applicants are typically adults who
have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent by the time they
enroll at Penn State.
Provisional
applicants include adults who:
-
have graduated high
school with a strong grade point average (GPA), and
-
have not completed
sufficient academic math units such as algebra, geometry and
trigonometry
-
have not completed
more than 18 credits at a regionally accredited college or university,
and
-
who have attended or
completed programs at training institutions other than a college or
university setting
Please note this information
is intended to give you a general idea of admissibility to Penn State
Behrend, not other Penn State campus locations. Each Penn State
location has different criteria for adult student admission; please
contact the specific Penn
State location for additional information.
At Penn State Behrend, an adult student is
defined as one who:
-
graduated high
school four or more years ago (for GED completers, had their "graduating
class" out of high school for four or more years)
-
served on active duty in the
regular Armed Forces for three or more years
-
holds adult
responsibilities such as caring for one's children or aging parents
-
holds multiple roles
such as spouse/partner, employee, student
Applying for provisional admission:
1.
Apply online.
2. Have official* transcripts from high school
and all post-secondary institutions attended sent directly to the
Admissions Office at the address listed below. For GED
completers a copy of the GED score sheet is required, as well as the
high school transcript.
* An official transcript is one that is sent
directly from the Records Office of the institution(s) attended to
Penn State Erie, The Behrend College Admissions Office, 4701 College Drive Erie, PA
16563.
3. If you were a member of the Armed Forces,
submit a copy of the DD214, member 4 copy, which indicates your
discharge type.
Obtaining Previous GED score report:
If you no longer have copies of your GED score
sheet and you took the exam in Pennsylvania, you must request a copy,
in writing only, from:
