Quick Facts About Scholarship Awarding at Penn State Behrend First year students starting Fall 2009 are automatically considered for most of our academic scholarships once they are offered admission to Penn State Erie. Leadership scholarships are also available to first year students; a separate on-line application is required and will be available on by December 1, 2008. Upper division students are not required to complete a scholarship application. Upper division students will be awarded scholarships based on their PSU cumulative grade point average at the end of the spring term. Upper division students must be scheduled for their fall courses by the end of May in order to be considered. Scholarship award notices for all students will be sent to the student's permanent home address on record with the University. Your address can be updated, if necessary, on eLion. Many of our scholarships require documented financial need. To insure maximum consideration for all of our scholarships, we encourage you to file a 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). First year students starting Fall 2009 should submit the FAFSA by February 15, 2009; current students should submit by April 1, 2009. The Penn State Erie Faculty Council Scholarship and Awards Committee awards most of the scholarships at Penn State Behrend. The number of awards and dollar amounts vary from year to year. For the 2007-2008 academic year, there were approximately 500 scholarship recipients awarded over $1 million. If you (or a parent) are employed by one of the following companies, you should complete the appropriate application for scholarship consideration
