Behrend Lions to Open NCAA Baseball Tournament Versus Messiah

The Penn State Behrend baseball team will head to Kean University to compete this week in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament.  The blue and white snagged the AMCC conference title on May 11, and will now head to the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament to compete in opening round play in an eight-team regional on Wednesday, May 14.

Behrend (34-10) earned the #4 seed in the Mid-Atlantic regional and will play #5 seed Messiah College (27-16) at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, New Jersey.

Head coach Paul Benim said, "Our guys played really well this weekend and earned the AMCC title.  We are looking forward to representing Penn State Behrend and competing at the NCAA Regional.  The NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region is viewed as one of the toughest regions in the country and features the defending national champions of Kean."

The other teams competing in the double-elimination regional include regional host and #1 seed Kean University (35-9), #2 seed Rowan (30-12), #3 seed The College of New Jersey (28-10), #6 seed DeSales (24-18-1), #7 seed Keystone (30-10), and #8 seed Gwynedd-Mercy (21-18).
