Behrend Baseball Ranks Among Nation's Top-50 in Statistics

The Penn State Behrend baseball team finished the 2007 season ranked in the nation's top-50 in several statistical categories.  The team's final record of 27-12 was 48th best in a field of 351.

Other Behrend rankings came on the defensive end.  The team's 7.5 strikeouts per nine innings was ranked 22nd.  St. Scholastica, which Behrend defeated early on in the season set the standard with 10 strikeouts per nine innings.  David Koerbel (Pittsburgh/Central Cathloic) led the team in strikeouts with 55 and was ranked 42nd in the nation at 9.3 per nine innings.

Behrend closer Ryan Smith (Franklin/Franklin) was an impressive 11th in the country in saves with 7.  Smith finished the season with a team best 1.41 ERA.
