Bailey and Gorney Tabbed AMCC Cross Country Runners of the Week

Penn State Behrend cross country team members Kevin Gorny (Erie/McDowell) and Jenny Bailey (Corry/Corry) were named AMCC Cross Country Runners of the Week on September 4.  Both Behrend runners had impressive performances in their first meet of the 2007 season.   

Gorny took second in the Fisher Invitational hosted by Westminster College on September 1.  His performance helped to lead the blue and white to a first place team finish in the meet.  The Behrend Lions sophomore covered the 8K course in 28:14.  This is the first runner of the week honor in 2007 for Gorny, was the AMCC Men's Cross Country Newcomer of the Year in 2006.

Bailey won her first race of the season by capturing the 5K Fisher Invitational at Westminster College on September 1.  The junior outraced 100 other competitors with a time of 19:55, finishing 3 seconds ahead of the runner-up.  The Behrend women finished third in the 10-team field.  This is the first runner of the week honor for Bailey, who was the 2006 AMCC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Penn State Behrend cross country is back in action on Saturday, September 15 when the blue and white host the 2007 Behrend Invitational.
