Behrend Hosts Annual Fall Golf Invitational at Peek'n Peak
The blue and white hosted their annual fall golf invitational at Peek'n Peak Golf Course on Thursday, September 22.
This year eleven Division III schools competed in the event, with the home team taking third place. The Behrend blue team posted a score of 300, missing second place Penn State Altoona by only two strokes, and first place Westminster by 5. Medaille placed fourth with a score of 308, then came Frostburg Stat with 313, Pitt-Bradford with 314, and the Penn State Behrend white team and La Roche with 316 each. Thiel had 317, Lake Erie came in with 319, and Hilbert finished with 345.
The individual medalist was Drew Grossman of Penn State Altoona with score of 70. Gary Dillman of Penn State Behrend was second with a round of 71 (Meadville/Meadville).
At the Division II level Gannon ousted Mercyhurst, Daemen, and Terra Community College by shooting a team score of 283. Mercyhurst was a distant second with 306, and both Daemen and Terra Community College tied with a pair of 307's. The individual medalist was Tom Phalin of Gannon with 69 while his teammate's Burt Roeth and M. Garcia tied for second with 70.
On the women's side team competition was between a mix of Division II and Division III schools. Division III Allegheny took home first place with a team score of 307 while Division II Mercyhurst finished second with 332.
The individual medalist was Alison Bruckner. Bruckner shot a 73 while her teammate Erin Winings took second with a score of 76. Mercyhurst's top finisher was Hilary McCall with a score of 80, Pitt-Bradford's was Tara Reile with 88, and Behrend's low score was turned in by Hillary Neal, who shot a 93.
