Behrend Wins Annual Fall Golf Invitational at Peek'n Peak
The blue and white hosted their annual fall
golf invitational at Peek'n Peak Golf Course on Thursday, September
21. The Behrend men's blue squad captured the team title with a 300,
led by sophomore Rick Davis (New Castle/Neshannock) who carded a
five-under 67.
This year thirteen Division III schools competed in the event. The Behrend white team posted a score of 310 and finished fifth overall. Placing second by only one stroke was Penn State Altoona at 301, and third place was secured by Daeman's 308.
The Division II men's winner was Gannon who logged a team score of 294 with Mercyhurst three strokes behind. Gannon was led by Mitch Molen's 72. Mercyhurst's top shooter was Brendan Flood with a 71.
On the women's side team competition was between a mix of Division II and Division III schools. Division II Gannon snagged the women's victory with a 328 behind Christa Cox (79) and Jess Slonaker (80). Second was Mercyhurst at 351, Penn State Altoona third at 393, while the Behrend and Pitt-Bradford women did not produce a team score. The individual medalist for the women's event was Altoona's Jenna Rothermel who shot a round of 74.
