Golf Coaching Staff

Head Coach James Bowen

James Bowen returns for his fourth season as the head men's and women's golf coach for the Penn State Behrend Lions.

Coach Bowen had been working with the golf program as an assistant coach for sixteen seasons. He was appointed the head coach in the fall of 2006.

A year ago, he guided Joe Nelson to the individual medalist title at the AMCC Championships as the blue and white finished as the AMCC runners-up placing second out of eight teams.

In the 2007-08 season he led the golf team to post five of the top thirty finishes in the first round of the AMCC Championships. Day two was not as strong as Behrend fell to seventh at the championship, but two golfers did earn AMCC All-Conference honors.

In 2006, the blue and white placed third at the AMCC Championships after finishing as the league's runner's-up the previous year. In 2004, Behrend captured the AMCC title at Pine Creek Golf Club in Cluster, PA.

Coach Bowen's interest in the development of player skills and positive motivation have been very strong assets to the program. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Bowen continues to serve the College as a manager of Food and Housing.
