Behrend Places Two on the AMCC
All-Conference Team
The
Penn State Behrend men's golf team placed two golfers on the Allegheny
Mountain Collegiate All-Conference team. Junior Joe Nelson
(Warren/Warren) was named to the first team. Nelson who was the top
medalist at the AMCC Championships led the blue and white to a second place
finish. This is the second time that Nelson has received
All-Conference honors. He was a second team selection a year ago.
Joining Nelson on the All-Conference team was
freshman Kevin Koerbel (Gibsonia/Deer Lakes). Koerbel was the low
scorer at the Penn State Behrend Invitational shooting a 75 to help the
Behrend Lions to a fifth place finish. Koerbel was named as a second
team All-Conference member.
Adding to the awards was Penn State Behrend men's
golf coach James Bowen. Bowen was named the coach of the year after
his second consecutive runner-up finish in the AMCC championships. The
Behrend Lions took first place in two tournaments this year, winning both
the Pitt-Bradford and La Roache Invitational. The blue and white
finished the year with five top five finishes and two championships.
