GARY BOROWY

To say that Gary Borowy, a 1973 University Park graduate, has left his mark on men's basketball history at Penn State Behrend is a great understatement.  His career statistics serve as a benchmark for today's players.  His 22 PPG average is second in 33 years of college basketball history at Penn State Behrend.  He grabbed 478 career rebounds.  This total places him ninth on the all-time charts.  The 988 points he netted in only two seasons places him eighth on the record charts.

In 1970, he led his team to the Penn State Commonwealth Campus Championship, and was named to the all Tourney team for two consecutive seasons. The most impressive note about Borowy's records is that he compiled them in only two seasons at Penn State Behrend.  He scored 40, 34, and 33 points in his best games, and devastated opponents with his inside power moves.  He concluded the 1970-71 season with 531 points, the third most points scored in a single-season.

Borowy graduated with a degree from the College of Business Administration.  He currently operates and manages his own insurance agency in Erie.

RON WILLIAMS

Williams spent four terrific years representing the college on the hardwood.  In his junior season he led his team to win 19 wins, a new record against four-year competition, and was named Penn State Behrend's 1979-80 Athlete of the Year.

In his 74 career games in a Lion's uniform, he totaled 977 points, which is ninth on the all-time scoring charts.  His career averages were: 13.2 PPG and 5.6 RPG.  In addition to his scoring and rebounding skills, Williams dished out 184 assists which, as with his rebounding totals, ranks him twelfth all-time.  William's 471 made field goals is still enough for sixth all-time.

In 1980-81, he captained the team to 18 wins, and was recognized as the "Most Outstanding College Athlete in Erie County."  In addition to his athletic success, William's attained Dean's List status for four terms at Penn State Behrend.

This 1938 graduate of University Park has formed a longstanding relationship with Penn State Behrend.  His dedication and loyalty have made a positive impact on the College.  The Pauline Urich Jageman Fitness Room, located in Erie Hall, was established in loving memory of John's wife.  Jageman is solely responsible for supplying the Nautilus equipment that is used daily by the students, student-athletes, and faculty and staff of Penn State Behrend.

Jageman is the recipient of the 1991 Richard Dill Service Award, presented annually to the person who has provided outstanding volunteer service to Penn State Behrend athletics.

Jageman, a tough ball player for the Nittany Lion football and baseball teams, is an established alumnus. He is a faithful follower of Penn State football and our educational system. Jageman firmly believes that intercollegiate athletics contributes to the learning process and the college experience.  He is an avid supporter of athletics, but, most importantly, he remains Penn State Behrend's lifelong friend.

JAMES CHANNAS

Channas spent two seasons on the Penn State Behrend soccer team.  Because of his leadership qualities, he served as the captain for both years.  He was a quiet leader who led by example.  His play and attitude motivated teammates to achieve greater heights.

He guided the Lion's teams to two consecutive Commonwealth Campus Championships in 1970 and 1971.  Channas was named the 1970 Penn State Behrend Athlete of the Year and tabbed All-Region by the NJCAA.

His natural speed and skill made Jim the Lions first pure goal scorer.  Channas' favorite sound was the ball cruising into the back of the goal, ripping the net.  It is evident.  He continues to be the College's all-time leading career goal scorer with 27.

This 1974 graduate of University Park is currently a mechanical estimator in Heidelberg, Pennsylvania.
