BILL BREEDLOVE

Bill Breedlove, a graduate of Upper Saint Clair High School in Upper Saint Clair, Pennsylvania,  was a three-year starter for the Behrend Lions soccer team. 

He was a terrific defender and an integral part of the 1978 team that beat cross-town rival Mercyhurst 2 to 1 to capture the N.A.I.A. District 18 Championship.  Breedlove's defensive prowess enabled the team to establish a goals-against average of less than one goal per game.

 

During his defensive tenure, Breedlove's team held the opposition scoreless twenty-two times in the forty-five games he played. He was co-captain as a senior and a two-time Western Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Soccer Conference all-star for head coach Herb Lauffer. 

Breedlove graduated from Penn State Behrend in 1983. Breedlove is married, has two children, and is a sales manager for National Recovery Systems.

 

LISA BUTCH

 

Lisa Butch is a 1985 graduate of Northwestern High School in Albion, Pennsylvania, where she was a multi-sport star. Butch continued her athletic success and was recognized as a four-year letter winner in basketball and softball. 

 

Butch is one of four women to record more than 1,000 points in her career and is listed near the top of several key categories including points, assists, steals, and field goals made. In addition, Butch was also a significant contributor to the softball team that earned its first-ever E.C.A.C. bid in 1989. Butch was tabbed as the "MVP" of the Behrend Lions softball team as a freshman in 1985 and as a senior when she hit .329. Butch was named the Female Athlete of the Year in 1987-88 and 1988-89. In addition, she was elected to receive the John Zahniser Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1988-89.

 

Butch earned a degree from Penn State Behrend in 1989. Butch is the activities manager at SCI-Cambridge Springs.

 

 

DAVE FIRST


Dave First, also know as "Mr. Sunshine" during his time at Penn State Behrend, is a graduate of Academy High School in Erie, and he was one of the best golfers in the history of the Behrend Lions program.

 

First performed for Hall of Fame coach Ed Onorato and earned the White Letter Award for being the team's most valuable player in each of his two seasons for the blue, white, and red. First also holds the record for the lowest career scoring average among all Behrend Lions.

 

First also coached the Behrend Lions golf squad in 1987-89. His golf resume is very impressive. First is still active in the local golf scene. He has captured nine club championships at the J.C. Martin and Gospel Hill Golf Courses.

 

First was awarded a degree in business administration from Penn State Behrend. First is married, has two children, and is the owner of Sun Capsule and Subway.

 

MARK LYTLE


Mark Lytle came to Penn State Behrend from Iroquois High School in Erie.  Lytle became a two-year standout for head baseball coach Shorty Stoner.

 

He earned the White Letter Award in 1971 after posting a 7-1 pitching record and a 1.48 earned run average in 54 2/3 innings. Lytle was also named as an all-star during the Penn State Campus Tournament in 1972.

 

During his two seasons in uniform he helped his teams earn 28 victories, and the 15 team wins in 1972 was a program high for more than twenty years. Lytle is listed as the career leader in ERA at 2.13 and number three for strikeouts with 118. Throughout his career he averaged more than one strikeout per inning.

 

Lytle graduated from Penn State Behrend in 1972. Lytle is married, has three children, and is employed by Lincoln Financial Services.

 

GARY WOLFE


Gary Wolfe is a graduate of Horseheads High School in Horseheads, New York. He was a three-year letter winner for head soccer coach Herb Lauffer.

 

In 1976 and 1977 he guided the soccer team to back-to-back eight-win seasons. The eight wins were the most wins in a season between 1961 and 1995. He was an important player in the team's 1978 N.A.I.A. District 18 Championship. In 1978 Wolfe was tabbed a Western Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Soccer Conference all-star at sweeper.

 

Wolfe graduated from Penn State Behrend in 1982. He competes annually in the Grand Rapids Old Kent 25K Run. Wolfe is married, has two children, and is a buyer for M.C. Sports in Michigan.
