Men's Basketball Improves to 10-0 at Home with 73-47 win over AMCC Opponent Pitt-Greensburg

The Behrend men's basketball team stayed undefeated at home on the season with a big 73-47 win over Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, February 2 at the Junker Center in front of 906 fans.

In the first half Behrend struggled to connect from long-range, hitting just 1-of-10 from behind the arc.  However, Behrend's stiffling defense was on the mark, limiting Pitt-Greensburg to 39% shooting in the first half.  At the break, the blue and white led 30-22.

Behrend found its stroke from long-range in the second half and took command of the game, as the blue and white connected on 7-of-14 three-point attempts.  Justin Kovac (Venetia/Peters Township) and Adam Kaiser (Erie/Cathedral Prep) each knocked down three from behind the arc.  Kovac finished with 13 points to go along with four assists.  Kaiser had 11 points and four boards.

Behrend also got important contributions from its big men.  Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Dan Ziegler (Johnsonburg/Johnsonburg) also reached double-digits with 12 points.

The Bobcats were led by Darnell Hampton who scored 11 points and Daniel Waajid who chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.

The Behrend Lions (15-5, 9-3) will now play two consecutive road games before returning to the Junker Center.  Next up is an 8:00 p.m. game on Wednesday, February 6 at Hilbert.
