Doub Straub Named Behrend Lions Athlete of the Week
Penn State Behrend basketball senior Doug Straub (St. Marys/Elk County Catholic) has been named the ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR athlete of the week for the week of February 25, 2008.
Straub came up big against AMCC rival Lake Erie College on Wednesday, February 20 in the Junker Center, making his mark with some key sharpshooting in the second half against the Storm. Straub hit three huge 3-point shots in the final minutes of the game to help the blue and white edge the Storm 70-65. With their win on Saturday over Pitt-Bradford, the Behrend Lions improved to 21-4 overall and 15-3 in the AMCC.
The men will host the AMCC Tournament beginning on Friday, February 29. The Behrend Lions have taken the number one spot in the AMCC and will take on #4 Penn State Altoona at 6:00 p.m. Then at 8:00 p.m. #2 Lake Erie College will square off against #6 Medaille College. The winner of each will face off in the championship game on. Saturday, March 1 at 3:00 p.m. The winner of the AMCC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
