Men's Basketball Outlasts Penn State Altoona in the Junker Center
The Behrend men's basketball team played host to conference rival Penn State Altoona Friday night in the Junker Center. Behrend continued their domination on the glass and was able to outlast Altoona 63-55. The blue and white were led by Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria), who had eight points and eight boards, senior J.J. Ferguson (Summerville/ Clarion Limestone), who lead all scorers with 16 points, and sophomore David Gahan (Erie/East) who put together 12 points and four rebounds. The game remained close through the first half, with numerous lead changes. Behrend closed out the half with four straight points to take 24-21 lead at the break. In the second half Behrend senior J.J. Ferguson emerged to score 13 of his 16 points as the blue and white jumped out to a 44-35 lead with nine minutes remaining. Behrend never looked back from there and closed out the game 63-55. Altoona was lead by Tyler Franklin, who finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Also contributing was Doug Dusza with 13 points and four boards. Behrend continues at home with Saturday's game versus Mt. Aloysius (5-3, 1-1) at 6:00 p.m.
