Behrend Lions Move to 10-1 in the Junker With Easy Win Over Medaille

The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team cruised past Medaille on Tuesday night 79-50.

The Behrend Lions (15-5, 9-3) took a 10-9 lead after guard Ben Gasbarre (DuBois/DuBois Central Christian) hit a fifteen footer at the top of the circle five minutes in.Then Behrend ripped off an 18-0 run capped by Dan Zeigler's (Johnsonburg/ Johnsonburg) lay-in to take a commanding 28-9 lead into a Maverick time-out.

The lead was up to 26 points at the break as Behrend shot 61% from the floor and forced 10 Maverick turnovers. Sophomore forward David Gahan (Erie/East) led the first half surge with 10 points and six boards in 17 minutes of work.

The blue and white were led by  Drew Seker's (Ellicot City, MD/Centenial) career high 20, and Zeigler's 14. Medaille was led offensively by James McNeil with 30 as the Mavericks fall to 4-15 overall and 3-9 in the AMCC. 

The Behrend Lions now begin a key AMCC four-game road trip this Friday, February 3, at Mt. Aloysius (9-7, 5-5), followed by Saturday's 6:00 p.m. game at Penn State Altoona (3-13, 0-10). Then on Tuesday, the blue and white travel to Hamburg, New York to battle the Hilbert Hawks (7-10, 5-6) and on February 11, they play at Pitt-Bradford (7-11, 4-7).
