Behrend Basketball Holds Off Mount Aloysius 73-59 to Begin AMCC Play

Penn State Behrend men's basketball held off a spirited Mount Aloysius squad 73-59 on Wednesday evening in the Junker Center.  Behrend led by 20 points at halftime, but the Mounties would get within two points at 57-55 with six minutes left to play.  The Behrend Lions would respond with a 16-4 run to close out the game and claim the victory.  

Behrend started off the game on a blistering pace and led 24-4 midway through the first half.  Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) scored 16 of his team high 23 points in the first half and Behrend shot 50% from the floor to lead 43-23 at the break.   
 
Freshman Justin Kovac (Venetia/Peters Township) handled the ball against the Mounties press all evening and finished with nine points and five assists.  Junior
Doug Straub (St. Marys/Elk County Christian) finished with ten points with all ten coming from the line.  Junior forward Dan Zeigler (Johnsonburg/Johnsonburg) grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and put in seven points for the blue and white.  

Behrend continues AMCC play when they take to the road to face the Bobcats of Frostburg State on December 2 at 4:00 p.m.
