Men's Basketball Rolls Past Hilbert in Home Win

men's basketball won their fourth straight game, defeating the Hilbert Hawks
65-50 at home in the
Junker Center on Wednesday, January 31. The Behrend men improved to
14-5 overall and a stellar 12-1 in the AMCC.
The game started off even, with the score tied at 15 with 8:34 to go in the
first half. Behrend then went on an 18-8 run to close out the half,
leading 33-23 at the break. Hilbert connected on just 28% in the first
half, while the blue and white made 41% of their field goal attempts, and
held a 26-16 rebounding edge in the first half.
Hilbert got to within five points (43-38) in the second half, but could get
no closer and were held to 29% shooting for the game.
The blue and white got a number of contributions in the win, with four
players reaching double figures in points. Doug Straub
(St. Marys/Elk County Christian) led the effort with 12 points on
four 3-point baskets.
Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) had a double-double with 11 points and 13
rebounds. Tom Newman added 11 points while Adam Potter (Pittsburgh/Mt.
Lebanon) scored ten to go with six rebounds.
Hilbert (9-11, 5-8) was led by Dallas Reinard, the AMCC scoring leader, who
finished with 19 points. Glen Ufland added 14 points for the Hawks.
The men will be back in action when they host Penn State Altoona on
Saturday, February 3 at 6:00 p.m.
