Kovac Named AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Buczynski All-Conference
Kovac burst onto the scene to make an immediate impact this season for the Behrend Lions. He started in 23 games, averaged 7.3 points per game and led the team in assists with 69. His three assists a contest ranked eighth in the conference. "I am really proud of Justin," said coach Niland. "He certainly earned this recognition, he has made a huge contribution to our team and has done a great job making the transition to the collegiate level." Buczynski finds himself back on the all-conference first-team a year after being nominated as the conference Player of the Year. Buczynski had a superb junior season, averaging 18.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, putting him at fifth and third in the conference respectively. He started in all 26 games for the blue and white, shooting a remarkable 60% percent from the floor. On the defensive end, Buczynski was a shot blocking force with 40 blocks, third in the conference. "Kevin has worked really hard this season to remain an elite player in our conference," said coach Niland. "It is nice to see that he is continuing to get the recognition he deserves within our league." |
