Behrend Lions Defeat Frostburg in Conference Home Opener

The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team defeated the rival Frostburg State Bobcats in the conference home opener by a score of 1-0 in a hard fought game on Saturday, September 19 at the Behrend Fields.

It was a seesaw battle throughout the first half as both teams traded shots on one another although the score was tied at 0-0 when the first half horn sounded.  It was not until late in the second half when Junior Ryan Banks (Allison Park/Hampton) was pulled down hard in the box creating an opportunity for a penalty kick.  Josh Teti (McKeesport/Elizabeth Forward) was chosen to take the kick and capitalized on the shot to make the score 1-0 in favor of Behrend.

Behrend's defense came up big once again and held that 1-0 lead until the final whistle.   Senior goalkeeper Dustin Walker (Apollo/Kiski) recorded his third shutout of the young season.

With the win, Behrend improves to 5-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the AMCC.  Up next for the blue and white will be a non-conference road test at Westminster on Tuesday, September 22.
