Penn State Behrend Lions Snag Big AMCC Victory Over 5-0 La Roche

Penn State Behrend snagged a big win on Thursday, October 15, in a 6-0 route of the La Roche Redhawks. Behrend is now 10-3-1 overall and 5-1 in the AMCC. 

Sophomore midfielder Aaron Meehl (North East, PA/North East) got the scoring started 6:59 seconds into the first half of play. Then Jerry Tortella (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) scored a terrific goal off a lengthy boot from shutout goalkeeper Dustin Walker (Apollo, PA/Kiski) at the 18:21 mark to provide Behrend with some breathing room.

Meehl connected on his sixth goal of the the season when Kyle McKinney (Chesterland, OH/W. Geauga) put him in position to score as Behrend took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, freshman Jake Gamble (Butler, PA/Butler) scored a pair of goals and sophomore Jared Potts (Conway, PA/Freedom) added one in the 6-0 victory. Walker's shutout was his eighth of the 2009 season.

The blue and white will be back in action on Saturday, October 17, as they battle Franciscan (7-5, 5-2) at 3:00 p.m. Then the team will travel to Medaille (12-2-1, 6-0) on October 21.
