Defending National Champions Knock the Behrend Lions Out of the 2003 NCAA Soccer Tournament

The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team earned the program's first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament berth on Monday and made the most of that opportunity on Friday holding the defending National Champions, Messiah College scoreless through the first 70 minutes of the second-round game in Salisbury, Maryland, before a late barrage of goals, losing 3-0.

Messiah (18-2-2) moves on to the regional final to play host Salisbury (16-2-2), a 1-0 winner over Rowan (NJ) on Saturday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. in Salisbury, MD.  The blue and white conclude their record-breaking season under AMCC Coach of the Year Dan Perritano 14-5-2. Under Perritano the blue and white are an impressive 116-88-14.

The Behrend Lions hosted the AMCC Championship match on Saturday, November 8, and defeated league foe Frostburg 1-0 to win their third title in seven years and earn an at-large invitation to the NCAA Tournament.
