Men's Soccer Picked Third in AMCC Coaches' Poll

The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team was selected third in the preseason soccer poll recently released by the AMCC league office. The coaches selected Altoona to win their first-ever conference championship.

"The league presents a very rigorous test each week," said head coach Dan Perritano. "Clearly Altoona is deserving of the number-one preseason spot, while Pitt-Greensburg and Frostburg will also compete for our league championship come November."

The AMCC kicks off play on September 24. The conference championship will be Saturday, November 5 at the highest remaining seed. The winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Behrend Lions open play against Juniata at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3 in the annual Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament. Game one features Baldwin-Wallace and Washington & Jefferson, who battle in the 2:00 p.m. contest.  The consolation game is slated for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and the championship follows at 4:00 p.m. on the Behrend Fields.
