Men's Soccer Moves to 3-0 With Double-Overtime Win

The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team won 2-1 in double-overtime against Alfred University (0-2) on Wednesday afternoon on the Behrend Fields. "We are playing really well right now and controlled the majority of the match," said head coach Dan Perritano. "Our players are very confident in our system."

Behrend trailed after Bobby Linaberry found the back of the net for the Saxons at the 33:00 minute mark, but responded halfway through the second half as freshman Ahmad Salim (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) headed in the game tying goal.  After a scoreless first overtime followed by nine minutes and 19 seconds of more outstanding defense, senior Mark Cipriani (Erie/Cathedral Prep) connected for the game-winner.

Both goalies excelled with Behrend's Matt Zirnsak making a dozen saves between the pipes. Behrend remains undefeated at 3-0 as head coach Dan Perritano picked up men's and women's career coaching victory number two-hundred and ninety-eight.

The Behrend Lions host Westminster College on Saturday, September 10 at 3:00 p.m. in non-conference action before traveling to Fredonia on September 13 for their first road contest of the season.
