Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament Will Begin Men's Season at Home

The Behrend men's soccer program will kick off their 2006 home schedule Saturday, September 16, when they take on Thomas More at 10:00 a.m.  The tournament will feature two games Saturday and another two on Sunday.  Behrend will be in action again on Sunday against Westminster at 1:00 p.m.

Behrend won the tournament last season, beating out Juniata 3-1 and then Washington and Jefferson 2-1 in the championship game.

"We have some great teams coming in that should make this a very competitive tournament" said coach Perritano.  "This is a good way to kick off our home season and will allow us to get two outstanding games in early in the year."

The blue and white will look to improve on an 0-3 start after dropping games to Hiram and Mt. Union in the Fredonia State Tournament.  They start conference competition on September 23, when they will welcome Mt. Aloysius to the Behrend Fields.  The men went 12-7 on the year last season, including a 6-3 AMCC mark that was good enough to get them into the ECAC Tournament.

After this weekend's tournament, look for the men back on the Behrend Fields on September 22, when they will be taking on the Fredonia Blue Devils in a 4:00 p.m. game.
