Behrend Westminster Battle to a 1-1 Tie to End the Tournament

Men's soccer fought for 110 minutes against the Titans of Westminster on Sunday, September 17 and came out with a 1-1 tie.  Alex Bugel scored for the Titans just ten minutes into the first half to put Westminster up one going into the break.  Ahmad Salim (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) would even the score in the sixty-ninth minute off a penalty kick.

The contest saw action around both goals throughout, ending with Westminster having a 21-20 edge in total shot attempts.  Behrend led in corners, with 10 to the Titans six.

Behrend finishes the tournament at 0-1-1, after dropping their first contest to Thomas More 1-2.  Westminster was awarded the championship trophy, going 1-0-1.  The Titans were victorious over La Roche in Saturday's match-up.  Andrew Saporito of Westminster was elected the men's tournament MVP.

In the day's other match, La Roche grabbed a 3-2 win over Thomas More.  Each team scored on penalty kicks, but Matthew Lapaglia and Reuben Jolo both scored for La Roche late in the second half to steal the victory.

The tie puts the Behrend Lions at 0-4-1 heading into a September 22 game at Grove City, followed by a three game homestand.
