Men's Soccer Bounces Hilbert 3-0 on Wednesday to Move to 7-7-2

On Wednesday, October 18, the Behrend men's soccer team reached the even mark with a routine 3-0 win over the visiting Hilbert Hawks. More importantly, the blue and white strengthened their position in the conference standings by improving to 5-2-1.

Behrend leaped out in front one minute and three seconds into the game behind freshman Jerry Tortella's (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) goal off a pass from fellow rookie Eric Murillo (Pittsburgh/Montour).  Adam Cline (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) added a second score at 11:16 into the first half with senior Sean Ruhlman (Warren/Warren) polishing things off on an unassisted goal.

Behrend had three players combine between the pipes for the shutout. Thomas Reihner (Washington/Linsly School), Dustin Walker (Apollo/Kiski), and Matt Dufford (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) made a pair of saves against only five Hawk shots.

Behrend welcomes undefeated Penn State Altoona (11-1-2, 6-0) to the Behrend Fields on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. AMCC match. Then on Tuesday, Behrend hosts Case Western at 3:00 p.m. before heading into the league playoffs.
