Men's Soccer Battles Back to .500, Takes Momentum into Home Stretch

Behrend men's soccer heads into the home stretch of their season riding a four-game unbeaten streak and has gone 5-1-1 in their last seven games.  With just one game remaining in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), the men figure to host a first-round conference tournament game on October 28.

The men, who average over two goals a game, are led on the offensive end by Ahmad Salim (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) who has a team-high five goals on the season, with three others who come in at four goals a piece.

The blue and white have seen their large incoming class of 14 freshman develop over the course of the season into impact players.  First-year forwards Jerry Tortella (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) and Mark DelGreco (Pittsburgh/Seton LaSalle), have combined to find the back of the net seven times this season.  While freshman goalkeeper Thomas Reihner (Washington/Linsly School) has been a part of seven shutouts and is starting to earn recognition as one of the conference's premier goalkeepers.

The Behrend men welcome the Penn State Altoona Lions to the Behrend Fields on Saturday, October 21 to close out AMCC regular season play.  Behrend has already secured a spot in the tournament, where they have been a regular for all ten years of its history.  The men saw action in the ECAC Tournament a last year, and were the AMCC runners-up two season ago.
