Behrend Men's Soccer Hosts #5 Seed Pitt-Bradford at Mercyhurst

The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team has won the right to host the first-round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament on Saturday, October 28.  Fourth-seeded Behrend will welcome the fifth-seeded Pitt-Bradford Panthers to the Mercyhurst soccer field for a 12:00 p.m. scheduled match.  The game has been relocated to Mercyhurst due to poor conditions up on the Behrend Fields.

Behrend claimed the number-four seed after going 5-3-1 in the AMCC and 7-8-2 overall.  Big wins against conference rivals Frostburg State, La Roche, and Pitt-Greensburg catapulted the blue and white into the top-four, which has given them home field advantage in the first round.

The Behrend offense has been paced by Ahmad Salim (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) and David Baleno (Pittsburgh/Plum), who have tallied five goals a piece.  Adam Cline (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) and Jerry Tortella (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) have also been consistent on the offensive end, chipping in with four a piece.

The blue and white defense has recorded seven shutouts and is anchored by freshman goalkeeper Thomas Reihner (Washington/Linsly School).  Reihner has recorded 63 saves has held teams to an average of under two goals a game.

The winner of Satruday's match-up will travel to #1 Medaille to meet the Mavericks on Wednesday, November 1.  The conference finals will be held on November 4 and the opening round of the ECAC and NCAA tournaments will begin on November 8.
