Men's Soccer Shuts Out Pitt-Bradford, Moves on in AMCC Tournament

The #4 Penn State Behrend men's soccer team squared off against #5 Pitt-Bradford in a rain-soaked battle at Mercyhurst on Saturday, October 28, and came out with a 3-0 victory.  The shutout is the men's eighth of the season and puts them in the second round of the AMCC tournament where they will meet #1 Medaille.  With the win, Behrend moves to 8-8-2 overall on the season.

Behrend scoring was led by Ahmad Salim (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) who recorded two goals on five shots, upping his team leading total to seven goals on the season.  The first came 28 minutes in when Adam Danch (Erie/Cathedral Prep) put up a ball that Salim was able to redirect with a header past Bradford goalie, Mike Ruffino.  Salim's second goal came off a nice pass from Jerry Torella (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) that was scooted in for a 2-0 lead 53 minutes in.  Chris Ream (Manheim/Manheim) would put the game out of reach when he found the back of the net eight minutes later to put Behrend up three.

Freshman goalkeeper Thomas Reiher (Washington/Linsly School) stayed between the posts for the full 90 minutes, chalking up six saves on a total of 10 Bradford shots en route to another shutout victory.

The men will travel to Medaille on Wednesday, November 1 where they will try to avenge a loss they suffered to the Mavericks up on the Behrend fields earlier in the season.
