Behrend Men's Soccer Heads to Top-Seeded Medaille
Behrend will look to its top two goal scorers, Ahmad Salim (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) and David Baleno (Pittsburgh/Plum) who have seven and five goals respectively to put points on the board. Salim is the AMCC Player of the Week for his efforts against Pitt-Bradford in which he found the net twice. The men will continue to rely on freshman goalkeeper Thomas Reihner (Washington/Linsly School) to keep the ball out of their net. Rheiner has 69 saves on the season in almost 800 minutes of action. Reihner and the Behrend defense have tied the school-record of eight shutouts on the season. The Mavericks are the defending AMCC Champions, beating Lake Erie 2-1 in the championship game last season. Pitt-Greensburg took the crown in 2004, with Behrend winning it three seasons ago. Last season, Behrend made the ECAC tournament where they lost in the first-round to McDaniel 2-0. Gametime is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with the winner moving on to the championship game to face the winner of the Frostburg State vs. Penn State Altoona matchup on November 4. The ECAC and NCAA tournaments are slated to begin on November 8.
