Behrend Pair Earn AMCC Player of the Week Honors - October 7, 2007

The Penn State Behrend Lions soccer team picked up a pair of AMCC wins last week which led to two men's players earning AMCC Player of the Week honors.

Jerry Tortella (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) was named the AMCC men's soccer Player of the Week and teammate Dustin Walker (Apollo/Kiski) was tabbed the AMCC Goalie of the Week. Behrend dropped Lake Erie 2-0 on the Behrend Fields and beat Pitt-Greensburg 6-0 on the road.

Tortella scored in both games, boosting his season total to 10 goals. He is the Behrend Lions leading scorer with 22 points and ranks second in the AMCC in goals scored.

Walker posted two shutout victories in league play. He made nine saves in the win over the Storm and stopped four more to blank UPG. The sophomore leads the league with a .41 GAA and a .919 save percentage.

The blue and white continue with four straight in league play. They host Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday, October 10, and Frostburg on Saturday, October 13, on the Behrend Fields.
