Behrend Celebrates Senior Day With Two Big Wins Against Mt. Aloysius

The Behrend softball team (24-4, 11-1) improved to a perfect 10-0 at home this season when they upended the Mt. Aloysius Mounties (4-16, 1-13) in both games of doubleheader on Saturday, April 15.  Lone senior Jill Wooldridge (Pittsburgh/Fox Chapel) was recognized prior to the game for her four years at Behrend.

Behrend took game one 17-0 in a game that saw the blue and white ring up 19 hits on 32 at bats.  Leading the way was Allison Babish (Coraopolis/Montour), who went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.  Behrend had three others that went 3-for-4 in the game, including Rachelle Lawrence (Warren Center/Northeast Bradford) who also drove in three.  Julie Koman (McKees Rocks/Montour) locked up her team-high twelfth win of the season.  Koman pitched three innings, giving up only one run and striking out six.

Behrend continued to swing the bats well in game two, as they cruised to a 10-0 shutout victory.  Kelly Houghton (Jamestown/Jamestown) starred at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple, 3 RBIs, and a run.  Sandra Jaussi (Bethel Park/Bethel Park) got credit for the win, pitching three scoreless innings and fanning three.
