Softball's Julie Koman Earns AMCC Pitcher of the Week

Penn State Behrend softball sophomore pitcher Julie Koman (Montour/McKees Rocks) was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 16.  Koman pitched a complete game shutout against conference rival Lake Erie, allowing just three hits and fanning four.  She then followed that up with a win over Pitt-Greensburg in which she pitched a four-hitter, striking out six.

Koman sits atop the conference in multiple statistical categories.  She has amassed a league high 10 wins.  Her ERA (1.54), strikeouts (98), and opposing batting average (.231) are all conference bests.

This is Koman's second Pitcher of the Week nomination after receiving her first back on March 19.  The sophomore sensation grabbed four Pitcher of the Week honors last season en route to becoming the AMCC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.

Softball is in action next on Thursday, April 17 when they travel to Grove City for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
