Behrend Softball Ranked in Top 50 in Statistics by NCAA

Penn State Behrend softball found themselves among the top 50 in the nation in eight different statistical categories at the conclusion of the 2007 season.  The team's .331 batting average was 48th, with Linfield leading everyone at .388.  Behrend came in at 11th in triples per game with 0.54.

Individually, Nikki Kaschauer (South Park/South Park), Julie Koman (McKees Rocks/Montour), and Katie Whitby (Tyrone/Tyrone) left their mark in the rankings.  Kaschauer was 45th overall in batting average (.462) with Caroline Cubbage of Lynchburg pacing everyone at .533.  Kaschauer was named the AMCC Player of the Year for her efforts both at the plate and at second base.  Whitby achieved the highest ranking of any Behrend athlete with her 0.25 triples per game, sixth in the nation.  Sophomore sensation, Julie Koman was ranked in the three pitching categories.  She was 31st in ERA at 1.53, 33rd in strikeouts per seven innings with 7.2 a contest, and 28th in victories with 17.
