Pitcher Julie Koman Named Behrend Lions Athlete of the Week
Penn State Behrend junior Julie Koman (McKees Rocks/Montour) has been named the ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR athlete of the week for the week of March 17, 2008.
Over
spring break, the Behrend women's softball team traveled to Claremont, FL to
open up their season. The women posted an 8-2 record overall over a
six day stretch of play. Koman stood out for the blue and white,
winning in all five games she pitched last week. Julie posted 30
strikes in 35 innings of work, including a no-hitter against Westfield.
She allowed only six earned runs on 22 hits while on the mound.
The women open up AMCC play with a double header against Medaille college on Wednesday, March 26. Games will be played at Penn State Behrend softball field, with play beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Behrend Lions will go on to host Grove City college on Thursday, March 27, with games beginning at 3:30 p.m.
