Coaching Staff Head Coach Jeff Barger
Behrend’s tennis head coach Jeff Barger is entering his twelfth year at the helm of the program. Barger has created an exceptional program that expects success each and every year. He has led the Behrend women to four straight AMCC crowns. Under Barger’s direction, the blue and white have earned championship titles in seven of the ten AMCC seasons. Barger has been voted the AMCC Coach of the Year eight times and is the all-time leader in men's and women's coaching victories. He has also led the women's team to an unprecedented seven AMCC titles in ten seasons, including four straight in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008. His women’s tennis winning percentage is impressive at 71% and ranks first in the Behrend record books. Barger has taken the women to four consecutive undefeated seasons in the AMCC, going 24-0 during that stretch and winning four AMCC tournament championships. He has posted a 133-55 overall women’s record, going an amazing 54-8 in the AMCC during that stretch. Last fall, the women tallied a 14-3 record en route to another league title. After capturing the men’s title in 2004, the blue and white earned a pair of runner’s-up finishes before regaining the title in the spring of 2008. In the spring of 2009, the men's team posted an 8-0 mark in conference play and also captured the AMCC Tournament title, while logging a 12-7 overall record. His record as men’s coach stands at 87-91, and 40-21 in the conference. In the 2006-07 seasons, he led the men's team to a 5-1 conference mark, tying Frostburg State for first place in the regular season. The men went on to finish third in the AMCC Tournament. The women were a glamorous 15-1 and 6-0 in league play en route to winning the league championship. Previously Barger was the girl's tennis coach at Ripley High School for four seasons, and he was a letterwinner in tennis for the Fredonia State Blue Devils.
