Behrend Men's Tennis Continues Winning Streak with Win Over Westminster
The
blue and white made it two in a row with an 8-1 victory over the Westminster
Titans at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA. The win moves the
blue and white to 2-1 overall.
The Behrend Lions were led by Elliot Blackstone
(Wexford/Pine-Richland) and Jon Henderson (Upper St. Clair/Upper St.
Clair). Blackstone and Henderson teamed up in the number one doubles
with an 8-0 win. Blackstone would also take the number one singles
with an 6-0, 6-1 win. Henderson would take the number four singles in
straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
Also getting wins for the blue and white in doubles actions were Erkin
Nasirli (Baku/Baku Oxford School) and James Getty (Erie/Harborcreek) along
with John Michalko (Washington/McGuffey) and Kelly Manning
(Sharpsville/Kennedy Catholic). Both teams winning 8-2. In
singles action the blue and white would get victories from Shane Mosier
(Kersey/St. Marys), Getty, and Brian Kaleta (Harborcreek/Harborcreek
). Each of the Behrend Lions singles won in straight sets.
The blue and white will be in action on March 6 against Grove
City. This will be the final match
before they go on their spring training trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
