Behrend's James Getty Named Enterprise RENT-A-CAR Athlete of the Week

men's tennis player James Getty (Erie, PA/Harborcreek) was named the
Enterprise RENT-A-CAR Athlete of the week for the week of March 30, 2009.
In a busy week for the Behrend Lions Getty, a senior, would be a force for the blue and white. In doubles action against Pitt-Greensburg Getty would team with Erkin Nasirli (Baku/Baku Oxford School) to take home a commanding 8-0 win. Three days later they would team up to win number one doubles over Alfred University in a tiebreak match 9-8 (7-4). The next day Getty and Nasirli would team up in number two doubles to beat Frostburg State 8-1. Rounding out an 4-0 week, Getty would again team with Nasirli to win number two doubles over AMCC conference foe Penn State Altoona.
Getty would also perform well in singles action. Against Alfred University, Getty would take a 7-6, 6-3 straight sets win. He would then have to battle to win his number four singles match against Frostburg State. Getty would take home a 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (10-4) match. Getty only blemish on the week was a loss against Penn State Altoona in number four singles. Getty would lose the first set 6-3 and would retire in the second down 4-3.
The Behrend Lions will then play four of their final five matches on the road. The blue and white will begin with Pitt-Greensburg on April 3 at 12:30 p.m.
