Q & A With Men's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Barger

What are you general thoughts on how the season started in Hilton Head?

I was not very impressed with our play at Hilton Head.  We played some tough teams, but I felt we could have come away with a couple wins.

Who is performing particularly well for you right now?

Most of the guys have really improved their games over the course of the spring.  Right now Scott Shaw and Shane Mosier have really picked it up.

What does the AMCC look like this season? How do you think you will fare in the conference?

The conference is close between us, Frostburg State, and Penn State Altoona.  Doubles matches will be the key to one of the three teams separating itself from the other two.  I feel we have the most talent but we need to put it together.

Has anybody surprised you with their improvement in the offseason?

No one person in particular stands out.  I knew we had some talent and we are now just working on meshing better as a team.

What is the biggest challenge as your team prepares for the remainder of the season?

I think it is getting prepared for every match.  Practice time is tough and we need to think during our matches.  Working with doubles teams is on the top of the list to work on during these last games leading into the tournament.
