Behrend Lions Go 1-1 on the Behrend Courts
The
Behrend Lions women's tennis team faced both Oneonta and La Roche on
Saturday, September 20, on the Behrend Courts. Behrend lost the first
match 8-1 to Oneonta and came back and won the second mach 9-0.
The Behrned Lions started the day out
with a loss to Oneonta. The blue and white managed to take only one
match from the Red Dragons. The lone win came from Hillary Lasher (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern).
Lasher took the sixth flight singles 7-5 and 6-4.
Behrend came back in the second match to beat AMCC opponent La Roche
Redhawks. The blue and white took all nine games to improve to 2-0 in
conference play and 8-1 overall. Allison Quigley(Gibsonia/Hampton) and
Leslie Durante(Fairview/Fairview) took the first flight doubles by a score
of 8-5. Arica Christman(Sharon/Sharon) won number one singles 6-2,
6-2.
The blue
and white are now 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the AMCC. The Behrend Lions will
next be on the road to take on Westminster on Friday, September 26 at 3:30
p.m. The blue and white will not return back to the Behrend Courts
until October 3rd when they take on conference foe Penn State Altoona at
3:00 p.m.
