Track and Cross Country Teams Raise Money for Crohn's Disease

The Penn State Behrend Track & Field Team and Cross Country Team raised $345.00 for Crohn's Disease. Fifteen of their members walked on Sunday, October 2 at Presque Isle State Park to support two of their own team members who were diagnosed with the disease.

1.4 million children and adults suffer from this incurable disease. The best way to explain the disease is by saying that your body does not recognize your intestine and your digestive system tries to digest your digestive system. This leads to many sudden hospital trips and often requires taking 20-30 pills per day.

The Track & Field Team and the Cross Country Team wanted to help support research of a disease that affects two of their own athletes. The teams wanted to show their support for them and hope that someday a cure can be found for this terrible disease.
